Audi Case Study: Streamlining Cloud Management with ServiceNow

 

Client Overview


Audi, a global leader in automotive manufacturing, required a scalable and automated cloud management solution to optimize IT infrastructure deployment. Audi’s goal was to enable seamless provisioning and management of cloud services, including Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS), Load Balancer-as-a-Service (LBaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), through an integrated ServiceNow platform.


ServiceNow Solution Consultation



Objective: Design and implement a cloud management portal within ServiceNow that would allow Audi to manage its cloud resources efficiently. This involved creating catalog items, designing Blueprints, and developing workflows for automated stack deployments. A crucial component was the integration of REST API calls via the ServiceNow REST Explorer to interact with Audi’s external cloud systems.

1. Catalog Item Creation

  • Designed and developed catalog items for Audi’s internal teams to request cloud services, ensuring each item was customized to meet specific infrastructure needs, such as DBaaS, LBaaS, and IaaS.
  • Implemented user-friendly interfaces with clearly defined customization options, facilitating an intuitive process for end-users to streamline cloud resource provisioning.


2. Blueprint Creation

  • Created Blueprints to standardize configurations across various cloud stacks, ensuring consistency and reducing deployment errors.
  • Integrated Blueprints into workflows, following cloud deployment best practices for structured and uniform deployments.


3. Workflow Development

  • Automated cloud stack deployment through ServiceNow workflows, integrating approval processes, notifications, and task assignments to enhance governance and deployment visibility.
  • Developed error-handling mechanisms within workflows to manage failures and trigger corrective actions for seamless deployment continuity.


4. REST Explorer and API Integration

  • Leveraged the ServiceNow REST Explorer to execute REST API calls, facilitating seamless data exchange with Audi’s external cloud platforms.
  • Ensured secure communication and data handling while interacting with external REST endpoints, allowing Audi to automate cloud provisioning efficiently.
